Transforming Libraries, Sixth Annual Sponsors’ Symposium

Several developments aimed at increasing the volume of digital content may have a profound effect on the future of academic libraries and the delivery of information to faculty and students. A recent, high-profile example is Google’s partnership with major academic and research libraries to scan books from their collections. CLIR’s 2005 symposium addressed the impact of this and related developments on the supply of and demand for digital scholarly information, and on the campus cyberinfrastructure needed to access and deliver these resources. Panelists included academic leaders, administrators, publishers, and researchers in library education.
